The Patent has the objective of solving the daily needs of every urban center in an original way, with the utility of being able to make every waste producer responsible, be it a domestic or non-domestic user, or a simple tourist.
In historic centres, there is no space available for the storage of containers, or they are not very decent, on public land, and at the same time, the space to keep the containers themselves is often very limited in homes and offices.
In these contexts it is necessary to maximize the usability of services, with the parking of vehicles that otherwise would be an obstacle to the road network.
The WormApp plan, in which the user with a fixed appointment goes to a station for a predetermined time (for example 1 hour), where a collection vehicle is stationed, or a means of collection / delivery of goods , which allows people to confer o collect the fractions scheduled for that day or collect products.
Parking at collection points is managed via software for the various electronic devices.
The service can also be repeated at different times on the same day, in the same location.
In the WormApp patent vehicles are used, which are positioned at predefined times in different areas of the city. The vehicle can be manned by an operator , who takes care of checking the correctness of the waste delivered and can also sweep the area.
The proposal normally provides for up to 8-9 fractions that can be collected per month , for example plastic, glass and metals, paper / cardboard, wet, undifferentiated, waste oils, batteries, toners, diapers, etc. Through a medium with several tanks/compartments, further separate fractions can be added.
Alternatively, the system can allow the collection of secondary fractions , dangerous and non-dangerous, for which it is required to set up an aperiodic or very low frequency separate collection service.
Below is a schematic comparison of the main organizational systems adopted in Europe by capillarity of intervention: from the left, the Municipal Collection Centre, then the road containers and the bells, then the proximity containers, i.e. associated with certain users, finally the system home. The WormApp model is placed between the last two: in fact it has the distance from the typical users of road containers, but the quality of the collected waste typical of home systems, even higher if with the presence of the operator at the delivery.
Comparison with other collection systems
The risk is prevented that unassimilated company waste, hazardous waste and waste from non-registered users are transferred together with the waste envisaged by the system due to the presence of the operator.
The essential characteristics of the different systems are summarized in a table below, highlighting the "WormApp" peculiarities
